Monali Thakur is an Indian singer and actress. He shot to fame when he participated in the hugely popular singing reality TV show Indian Idol Season 2 that aired on Sony. Since then, he has sung many songs in Hindi films. With a sensuous voice and pretty face, she stole millions of hearts across the country. His melodious voice casts a spell every time.
She is the recipient of a National Film Award and Filmfare Award. Monali Thakur was born on 3 November 1985 into a Bengali musical family in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. Her father Shakti Thakur is a Bengali singer and her sister Mehuli Thakur is also a playback singer. He was trained in Hindustani classical music under Pandit Jagdish Prasad and Pandit Ajay Chakraborty. She has learned Hip-Hop and Bharatanatyam and is also a trained Salsa dancer.
Thakur began singing in school and college competitions and performed at local festivals, and at the age of 14 received the Best Playback Singer award at the Anandalok Awards for the serial Sri Ramakrishna. She rose to popularity after finishing ninth in Indian Idol 2.
Monali Thakur Career:
Monali started her career as a playback singer in 2006 with the song 'Qubool Kar Le' from the film Jaan-e-Mann. Next year he lent his voice in 'Goodnight' for Dil Kabaddi.
Even after Indian Idol, he had to struggle to gain a strong foothold in the music industry. She received an offer from music director Pritam Chakraborty to sing two songs – "Khwab Dekhte (Sexy Lady)" and "Zara Zara Touch Me" for the Bollywood film Race in 2008. She was originally supposed to sing only one song, but her first recording impressed the film's directors Abbas-Mustan and booked her for one more song.

He has also sung the song "Khudaya Khair" in the recent film "Billu Barber" starring Shah Rukh Khan.

On the film front, she was first seen in the Bengali film Krishnakantar Vil, in which she played the role of Bhromore.
